Almost a month since our return from a fantastic Four Seasons Maldives Tour, we have been reminiscing about our stay at 3 of Four Seasons’ sumptuous properties in the Maldives and the fabulous activities we enjoyed.

Four Seasons Maldives Tour – Reefscaping at Landaa Giraavaru

The beginning of our Four Seasons Maldives Tour took place at the beautiful Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru. As the Maldives is reputed as one of the world’s best diving destinations, it was no surprise to find that Landaa Giraavaru has its own fantastic underwater facilities including PADI Five-Star IDC Centres.

A particular highlight of our Four Seasons Maldives Tour was when we embarked on our own Manta Ray Safari and Landaa Reef Snorkel before a presentation on endangered species of coral and other underwater wildlife at the Marine Discovery Centre afterwards. Coral is hugely important; without healthy coral reefs, multiple species of fish and water-creatures wouldn’t have safe shelter or anywhere for their offspring to grow which would hugely harm the Indian Ocean’s ecosystem.

After learning of this, it was a great privilege to be a part of sustaining the coral reef by working with Reefscapers during our Four Seasons Maldives Tour. Reefscapers are a separate organisation that works closely with Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru and Four Seasons Kuda Huraa and its guests for conservation of the Maldives coral reefs. Our frame, dedicated to Only Exclusive Travel, had multiple fragments of coral which we attached onto it.

Over time, these fragments will grow, providing perfect shelter for fish and other sea creatures. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for updates on the growth of our coral frame. Initial signs of growth can be detected a month after transplanting, during which time fish and invertebrates will start to use the new habitat as a place to live, hide and find food. The frame will be scientifically monitored by Reefscapers and the data collected will directly contribute to ongoing research into this pioneering technique of reef regeneration – we look forward to watching its progress!

Next on our Four Seasons Maldives Tour we boarded the Four Seasons Explorer, a luxury Maldives cruise experience that we were hugely anticipating. The Four Seasons Explorer is an exclusive, luxury cruise ship that sails between Landaa Giraavaru and Kuda Huraa. With a focus on excursions at the Four Seasons Explorer, such as barbecues on the beach, scuba diving and visits to surrounding smaller islands, our short stay was full of entertainment and intriguing stop-offs. The Four Seasons Explorer delivered us to the final destination of our Four Seasons Maldives tour: Four Seasons Kuda Huraa. My favourite activity here was the introduction to surfing followed by an array of exciting watersports including Jet Skiing!
