Luxury Mauritius Holidays from Only Exclusive Travel

Mauritius was voted our Top Destination for Travel in April!

Some 1500 miles off the East coast of Africa lies the stunningly beautiful island of Mauritius. Formed over 8 million years ago as a result of volcanic activity, this small island boasts long stretches of dazzling white sandy beaches, tranquil lagoons, a magnificent mountainous interior and a coral reef spanning the entirety of its coastline. The island forms part of the Mascarene Archipelago; all that now remains of the ancient land mass that once united the great continents of Asia and Africa.

The capital, Port Louis, is a fascinating melting pot of everything Mauritian. A trip there is not to be missed. Marvel at the Dutch, British and French inspired colonial architecture. Take a trip to the Natural History Museum to see the famously extinct Dodo bird. Wander through the fascinating Chinese quarter or take a tour of the fabulous Pamplemousse botanical gardens. However, the highlight must surely be the market situated near the mosque. A fantastic spectacle awaits those who manage to be present mid-morning: a combination of coloured saris, tempting aromas, flashing earrings, Chinese smiles and Creole exuberance, vast vegetable baskets, shining cookware and luscious fruits.

The natural beauty, heritage, culture and people of the island go some way to explaining why Mauritius makes such a special destination; but it is only half the story. The island is home to some of the most luxurious and spectacular hotels in the world, all of which provide a service which is second to none. Gourmet cuisine abounds, reflecting the cultural diversity of Mauritius. Dine on food (al fresco of course!) prepared by world renowned chefs whilst listening to the rhythms of live local music. Take advantage of the superb water sport facilities on offer, put your swing to the test on the championship golf course, or pamper yourself at the resort spas. Everything you need to enjoy a luxury holiday is here on this island, captured by resorts such as Le Touessrok and Le Saint Geran. You can also see the Seven Coloured Earths, one of Mauritius' unique tourist attractions, when staying at St. Regis Mauritius.

Mauritius has encouraged a sophisticated and discerning clientele over the years due to the extremely high standards of service and luxury that the hotels, such as Four Seasons Mauritius, provide. The properties to be found within our hand-picked portfolio represent the very best that this magnificent island has to offer. Our knowledgeable staff have first hand experience of all these resorts and are happy to advise on the suitability of each one for all our clients specific needs.

Mauritius is a sophisticated yet lively island, where one can escape from the strains and pressures of everyday life and begin to unwind upon arrival to any one of our 5 star Mauritius resorts.

Weather

Mauritius has an oceanic tropical climate with moderately hot temperatures throughout the year, never rising to such levels that would be considered uncomfortable. Although considered as a year round destination, the climate can be divided into two seasons – Winter and Summer.

The summer months run from November to April with temperatures on the coast ranging between 27-30°C (80 - 85°F), and the winter months run from May to October with temperatures on the coast ranging between 24-27°C (76 - 81°F). Average daily sunlight hours throughout the year are 8 with a high monthly average of 9 between Oct & Dec and a low of 7 between June and August.

Rainfall will occur in all months, however, the winter months are the country's driest period with the summer months, and in particular December to March being the wettest. The south and southeast coasts, being exposed to the dominant southeast trade winds will experience higher rainfall than other coastal locations. In general, Mauritius experiences a comparatively cool, dry and warm climate and is generally sunny and very pleasant.
