Resort Overview

Cape Weligama on the South coast of Sri Lanka is an otherworldly escape. Set within twelve expansive acres of manicured gardens and flanked by two beaches, beauty is inescapable here. Embracing the feel of an enigmatic Sri Lankan village, each Residence and Suite is named after an eminent explorer or writer whose historic Ceylon journey has helped shape the Weligama of today. A sixty metre crescent-shaped infinity pool allows sweeping 270-degree vistas. Just a thirty minute drive away is the UNESCO World heritage site of Galle Fort, a significant symbol of this region’s strategic importance to maritime history.

Living quarters at the resort are the largest in Sri Lanka. Thirty-nine rooms are embraced by natural slopes atop Weligama’s dramatic headland. Underneath a traditional veneer of terracotta-tiled roofs, stylish design dominates the interiors. Every conceivable comfort can be found here; all master rooms and residences offer discreet butler services, along with technological conveniences such as an extensive music and DVD library. The most prestigious accommodation, the sprawling Cape Weligama Residence boasts a private fifteen metre infinity pool.

Dining at Cape Weligama is eclectic, showcasing proliferative dining options with glimpses of local influence. Choose from the day’s freshest catches to be cooked to order at the Ocean Terrace restaurant. Tableau Restaurant, dramatically poised at the cliff edge, serving beautiful and sustainable dishes from chefs all over the world. At the Taylor Pavilion, sample Ceylon high tea, one of Sri Lanka’s most irresistible draws in a refined and sophisticated atmosphere.

Wellness is an important aspect of the resort’s home feel. Indigenous ingredients such as clove, nutmeg and sweet orange are made into spice scrubs to relieve stress and travel-weary muscles. Essential oil massages incorporate local Ceylon tea, which is known for its calming and antioxidant properties.
