Resort Overview

Resort Overview

Distinguished by its vast verdant grounds that teem with wildlife, Singita Sweni Lodge resides within 33,000 acres of a private concession in the Kruger National Park. With the backdrop of hundreds upon hundreds of trees at the edge of Sweni River, a trip to the lodge is an otherworldly escape. A veritable playground for intrepid explorers, guests can embark upon a once-in-a-lifetime experience, catching up-close sightings of animals and bird species.

Capturing the magic of the outdoors, tree house-style suites bedecked with sleek wood and glass fittings appear to float majestically in the branches. Conducive to open-air living, they showcase floor-to-ceiling glass walls, timber decks for private outdoor dining and an outdoor shower. At dusk, watch the changing hues of sky from your suite’s star bed, and later on, sit awestruck and witness an unpolluted and enchanting celestial display. In 2017 Singita Sweni Lodge underwent an extensive 'reinvention', seeking interior inspiration from the vast wilderness and beauty of the surrounds: the striking Kruger National Park. Welcoming the outdoors inside, in a very literal way, the new-look Lodge enlisted the help of South Africa's leading designers; Cécile and Boyd envisioned a loud, colourful and organic theme, with pops of jewel colours like teal, emerald, citron and yellow, and the finished product embodies a sense of unique safari style. A dramatic implementing of colour and texture can be seen in bright wall hangings and stunning handmade tiles from Southern Art Ceramics.

A new swimming pool offers inspiring views over the Sweni River, emphasizing the overarching aim of a grand open-plan space; bringing guests closer to the wilderness, a viewing deck also reinforces this connection with nature, and creates excellent game-spotting opportunities. Careful to not create unncessary waste, Singita Sweni Lodge has partaken in the trend of 'upcycling'; many furniture pieces have new finishes and designs by local artists, craftspeople and community projects, helping small enterprises and championing the nearby artistic talent.

African fusion cuisine includes delicious game dishes, such as ostrich, to tempt the adventurous. Dishes make extensive use of local fresh fruit and vegetables. Singita is recognised as one of Africa’s most influential collectors of wine, with an extensive cellar showcasing a premium selection of wines, including some of the continent’s most sought-after private reserves, including Exclusive Release, Limited Single Vineyard and Rare Auction Wines.
