Description

Luxury Resorts in Portugal with Only Exclusive Travel

Many remark upon Portugal as being their favourite holiday destination in Europe. Some people can successfully attribute it to the beautiful beaches, the close proximity to the UK allowing for short breaks away, the secret coves and fresh seafood. Many also love travelling to Portugal for too many reasons to put their fingers on.

Indulge in eating freshly caught sardines in one of the many seafood restaurants, famous for the transcendent quality of the fare caught straight from the Atlantic Ocean. The Portuguese eat more fish and shellfish per head of population than any other country, so when it comes to seafood, they definitely know what they’re talking about! Try a traditional Portuguese meal consisting of caldo verde soups, cheeses, wines and pastries. Although their culinary offerings are largely sourced from the Atlantic, the style of their food is akin to that of the Mediterranean. A favourite is piri-piri chicken, which is almost as renowned and celebrated here in the UK. Try the cuisine after mastering the fantastic golf courses, or surfing at the white, sandy coastline.

See a cultural show at one of the vibrant festivals, or listen to the local music, Fado. 'Fado' is Portuguese for 'fate'; the music is lively, yet the lyrics are melancholy and love-related. Immerse yourselves in the sounds, sights, tastes and experiences of Portugal.

With the highest amount of sunshine in Europe it is easy to see why the Algarve remains such a popular holiday destination. From the weird and wonderful rock formations of the Algarve's coves to rustic villages, one thing is for certain: it is the site of unquestionable natural beauty. Weather

Algarve
Both of our luxury resorts are in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. The climate is influenced by the proximity to the sea, which offers mild winters, especially in the Algarve. The summers are hot and dry, and there are often warm, sunny days in autumn. With an annual average of 3000 sunshine hours and over 300 days of sun a year, the Algarve is one of Europe’s sunniest places, sunnier even than California. The average high temperature starts out in the pleasant mid 20s then reaches a peak of 28ºC in July and August. Be wary of high temperatures in the daytime of the hottest months (usually August).

Activities

Never be in want when staying in Portugal for your summer holiday. With plenty to do, you have the choice of engaging in more culture-inclined activities whilst getting to know the local flora and fauna, or do something modern and exciting like visiting a waterpark.

Countryside & Wildlife

Countryside & Wildlife

The wildlife of Portugal embraces a mixture of European and North African species. As in Spain, the wild goat, wild pig, and deer can be found in the countryside, the wolf survives in the remote parts of the far north and northeast, and the lynx inhabits the Malcata Mountains. Birdlife is rich because the peninsula lies on the winter migration route of western and central European species. Such birds that can be found are game birds like the woodcock, red partridge, quail, and snipe.

Trekking

Trekking

Portugal has excellent conditions for hiking. As hiking isn't a national pastime of the locals, those who plan hiking tours in Portugal should bring their own. Admire beautiful landscapes, unspoiled nature, fabulous valleys, waterfalls, mountains and wildlife whilst rambling upon numerous trails on the peninsula.

Fishing

Fishing

Sea fishing in Portugal requires a bought Sport Fishing License; fishing in harbours, piers and restricted beaches is prohibited. That being said, Portugal is a great destination for fishing, with gargantuan nautical monsters ready for your captivation. Freshwater fishing season starts in April and lasts to November.

Golf

Golf

Portugal is renowned for its golfing facilities. Golf holidays in Portugal have long been at the forefront of golf in Europe, thanks to the top quality courses, hotels and resorts that line the Algarve coastline. The Algarve is synonymous with golf, and also benefits from a pleasant year round climate that is perfect for holiday golf.

Shopping

Shopping

Portugal has everything from small local markets to huge shopping malls and trendy little boutiques. If you want to experience the daily life of many Portuguese people, you should visit one of the many marketplaces that can be found in almost any town and larger cities. They sell food and vegetables as well as souvenirs often quite cheaply. The large Algarve Shopping Centre is vast and has its own supermarket, as well as a great array of clothing and accessory shops to choose from.

Horse Riding

Horse Riding

Portugal is the ideal setting for horse riding with its varied terrain and wonderful climate enabling you to enjoy year round holidays. It is a beautiful country full of forests, rivers and lush valleys in the centre and the north, whilst in the south you will find a splendid coastline of beaches, cliffs and coves. In the Alentejo region you will find vast groves of olives, oranges, cork and vines.

Nightlife

Nightlife

Nightlife in Portugal is very lively, especially in major towns. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, discos and clubs which are open till dawn. In many places parties last until dawn. But visitors can also choose one of the places which offers the Portuguese fold music, fado music and traditional cuisine. Live music is very popular and common in many restaurants and pubs.

Beaches

Beaches

The Algarve is the destination in Portugal for sun-worshippers and is more tourist-oriented. This is also a perfect surfing destination with the largest waves and great facilities. Sandy stretches of sand and sea as far as the eye can see, framed by golden cliffs, virtually deserted islands and small coves sheltered by the rocks. The ocean, in every shade of blue and mostly calm and warm, invites you for long swims and to indulge in water sports.

Amusement Parks

Amusement Parks

Parks are designed for both families and thrill seekers; rides are suitable for small children, but there are also dizzying, high speed rides for the adults. The parks are generally refurbished every winter and regularly launch new rides incorporating the latest ideas and technology. Some parks also offer attractions such as playgrounds, mini-zoos or child friendly museums so you can easily spent a whole day there.
